Our Purpose

Mission

Our mission is to provide a space where student creatives can build, share and learn more about the collective experience of young individuals in our ever-evolving society.

Originally created during the Covid-19 pandemic as a platform for students to share work depicting life in quarantine, The Herd has grown into a diverse community of young artists, musicians and writers whose perspective offers the rest of the world a direct insight as to how our generation thinks, learns and grows.

We are dedicated to nurturing artistic growth, which is why we have a team specifically dedicated to peer review. We are proud to be one of the only student publications to offer constructive feedback on submissions.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. Our volunteers come from across the province and bring specialized knowledge to the team while fostering a collaborative arts community.
